Moving to the UK
The United Kingdom continues to be a top destination for those wanting to immigrate, and with good reason. It has so much to offer when it comes to natural beauty, culture, safety, education and more. Below is a list of 10 reasons why you should consider Moving to the UK:
#1 Travel is Easy
With the UK being so well-placed geographically, it will be a breeze to travel internationally. Not only will it be less expensive but your flights will be shorter. An added bonus is that if you live in the UK, you are entitled to 28 days annual leave per year. I can live with that!
#2 The Weather isn’t as Bad as you Think
Yes, the UK can be dreary at times but the reality is that England can and does have decent weather, though not extremely warm. It doesn’t rain ALL THE TIME! And to be honest, not everyone likes sunshine every day! I, for one, find it utterly magical when overcast and rainy.
#3 Reliable Public Transport
Public Transport in the UK is one of the best in the world. With a combination of bus, train and tram, you will never run out of options to get around safely. London has the best public transport system in Britain aka The Tube which is the main source of public transport. It is easily accessible and very reliable!
#4 History and Culture Everywhere
Everywhere you look you’ll be surrounded by thousands of years of history like historic churches, homes, and even castles. On top of that, you’ll be in close proximity of some of the top museums and best music in the world. You will never be bored.
#5 Food is Fantastic
The idea that the food in England is boring and tasteless, couldn’t be more inaccurate! They take food seriously and you’ll find some of the best restaurants in the world there. Cities like London are on the cutting edge of the culinary scene and you will be spoiled for choice there.
#6 Parks and Natural Beauty that Takes your Breath Away
England truly is a work of art when it comes to Architecture, yet not as much attention is paid to some of the natural beauty. In the UK, your are able to hike mountains, stroll through fairy-tale countrysides, and enjoy a coastline that is beyond beautiful. Read my blog post 8 Beautiful London Walks here.
#7 Healthcare and State Schools are Free
Once you become a legal resident of the UK, you’ll have access to free healthcare from the National Health Service (NHS). Education is compulsory in the UK for children between the ages of five and 17. State schools are provided by the government at no cost foreigners legally living in the UK. These schools and the NHS are effectively funded by taxes.
#8 The Economy is Strong
The United Kingdom’s economy is the sixth largest in the world. It has benefited from steady economic growth and even though there is the pressure of current world economic downturn, businesses are still growing and people are not struggling finding work.
#9 Pub Life Exists
There are over 48 000 pubs in the UK so you’re never far away from a drink after a long day at work. Each pub has their own history and a story to tell. With pub food being very affordable and pubs easily accessible, there is no reason at all for you not to embrace Pub Culture.
#10 Diversity especially in big cities
According to the Office for National Statistics around 13% of the total UK population were born abroad. In cities like London, the percentage rises to 34% which means 1 in 3 people were not born in the UK. This makes for an interesting mix of people! So regardless of the colour of your skin, sexual orientation or religion, you will be welcome when moving to the UK.
